'cause its Green
Cycling is good for the environment. We strongly believe that riding a bike can make a difference in the environment by creating a comparatively smaller carbon footprint than that of Motor vehicles. The environment is affected by Motor vehicle emissions which represent 31 percent of total carbon dioxide, 81 percent of carbon monoxide, and 49 percent of nitrogen oxides released in the U.S. (The Green Commuter, a publication of the Clean Air Council). A short, four-mile round trip by bicycle keeps about 15 pounds of pollutants out of the air we breathe. (WorldWatch Institute).
By cycling whenever possible we lessen the amount of pollutants in the air. This directly helps the environment by reducing the introduction of contaminants that cause instability, disorder, harm or discomfort to the physical systems or living organisms within.
We can become more eco-friendly by choosing to ride our bicycles to create a smaller carbon footprint. According to the Nationwide Personal Transportation Survey, 25 percent of all trips are made within a mile of the home, 40 percent of all trips are within two miles of the home, and 50 percent of the working population commutes five miles or less to work. Yet more than 82 percent of trips five miles or less are made by personal motor vehicle. In this Environmental Tab, Ycycle hopes to supply you with access to detailed information on how cycling helps the environment.
Our goal is to get experts, companies and cyclist to work together to find answers to the above questions. By riding our bikes we make a difference in the environment and become examples for others to follow.
The GREEN in the “Ycycle Green Fit Fun Ride”

- If generators are used, they will be the most efficient units we can procure.
- Promotion will use less paper and more email or word of mouth.
- Educational and promotional materials will be combined to one small card with website links for people to find information.
